Meet the guy behind your support calls. Nik is head of our support team here at Starlight Software Solutions where he is the go-to guy for all of our current customers. Nik has worked with Starlight for almost 4 years and knows the software like the back of his hand. Everyone that has worked with Nik knows he’s a delight and can help you get to the bottom of any problem.
Q&A with Nik:
1. What is your role at Starlight and what does a typical day look like?
I’m Director of Support and Quality Assurance. A typical day looks like some meetings with our development team to help Derek, our Director of Product Management and Implementation, answer questions that pertain to the rewrite of the software. After that, I’ll call customers and check-in with them, making sure their system is running smoothly and if they have any questions. A large part of my day is customer maintenance but when that is not happening, I’m working with our core developer to help test and integrate new features or bug fixes with the system.
2. What is your favorite part about the waste industry?
My favorite part of this industry is that no two companies are the same. There’s always new lingo or new business ventures to learn so there’s constantly a new challenge… that definitely keeps you on your feet.
3. What do you like most about being a part of the Starlight team?
I love working with a team that’s dedicated to reaching the end goal. Everyone goes the extra mile and I think that’s rare at companies nowadays.
4. Tell us a little bit about your background and family
I grew up in Winnetka, a northern suburb of Chicago and went to college for environmental sciences before working at 5280/Starlight. I’m the oldest sibling and have 2 brothers and a sister (one brother works here at Starlight with me). Most of my family is now based in Phoenix, AZ and I try to visit them as often as I can.
5. What is your favorite thing to do outside of the office?
My favorite thing to do outside of the office is going out to bars with my friends in a newly reopened Denver and getting it poppin’. I’m also trying to learn new languages so that’s become a new weekend hobby of mine.
- Lastly, what do you think is the biggest benefit Starlight provides to our customers?
The biggest benefit to Starlight is that we make a genuine effort to try and understand the customer’s issues and try to integrate their needs into our system. It’s a partnership not just a customer-vendor relationship.
